Day 79 I wish I could say im completely smoke free, I haven't bought cigarettes in two days, but I have smoked about 10 cigarettes in the last two days, I know im winning this battle but it is a battle, I believe im doing the very best that I can and im proud of myself for not giving in, my health is coming back quickly, I can breathe once again, and the cough I have is much different than sickness, I know my body is cleaning itself out, and this is the most important part, just because I didn't meet my deadline doesn't mean its over, I will not just give up, I will continue to fight this battle every moment of every day until I win this war. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day I can say im smoke free.
I seem to be getting very comfortable in my job but im finding I need more secretary skills for all this paperwork, I am totally unorganized, but im getting there, ive been working on a house the last week and im very proud of the guys ive got working with me, ive got pictures but it will be two weeks before I get them up, ive been taking pictures of all the stages we have done so far, for once in my life I actually enjoy my job, this is very new to me, it seems ive always done things because I needed the money, not because I enjoyed it, I really enjoy the trust john puts into me, and it makes me want to live up to higher standards, and to give more than what is expected. Im finding myself very happy here, it seems I am very happy about everything that is going on in my life. Another day without drugs and all I seem to do is succeed, it's a James

ReplyDeleteSo happy everything's going so well for you, Jim. It sounds like you will lick the cigarette habit pretty soon. And you're eventually going to feel so much better when you get all of that smoke & gunk out of your system. For years, my husband smoked in the house & I used to get bronchitis or pneumonia occasionally when I'd catch a cold and I believe it was from all that second hand smoke. So I eventually made him smoke outside........even in the Wintertime. If you're down to 10 cigarettes in two days, then you almost have it licked.
ReplyDeleteAs for your secretary skills, why don't you go to an office supply store & buy one of those small portable square plastic file holders. (Cindy has one for all her bills, misc.) Those little file boxes usually have index files in them, and you can always buy more file folders if you need them. Then you can label & file all of your paperwork. And it will all be in one place. Just trying to help!
Have a great weekend with your lovely & loving new friend! :o)
I'm glad too see you're making progress in your war against cigarettes! I think one of the things that helped my dad finally give them up is when he realized how much they were costing him. It's a funny thing about cigarettes, it seems like the people I know who smoke are the ones who can least afford them. The amount of cash you have to hand over these days for a carton is one thing, but when you consider the costs associated with smoking, such as a decrease in the value of your assets due to items coming from a smoking environment, the extra cost for medical insurance, life insurance, homeowner's insurance, and car insurance due to being a smoker. One also has increased dental and medical expense because of smoking. When you go to re-sell your house or car, or even clothing you don't get the amount of money you could if you weren't a smoker. Etc., etc. Just the cost of cigarettes alone for an average smoker is upwards of $1,500 a year. If you add up the cost of everything else thats affected by smoking, it's an average cost of about $10,000 a year! Think of all the money you're going to save!
